#and walking as meditative practice

For anyone wondering what it's like to be a therapist who is also a Fan of Things, one of my clients shared that labyrinth walking was a meditative practice for her and I DID have to work very hard not to say, "Oh yes, like my good buddy Thara Celehar from Witness for the Dead, it really did help him!"
I pulled it together and said something professional but whew, close one!
#closeness of blurting exaggerated for comedic effect#really what it was is that I did take about fifteen seconds while she was talking to figure out if knowing this was represented in a book#would be nice for the client#and decided no so didn't mention it#but I thought it was very cool! Encountered it in the book first as labyrinth specifically and assumed it was more of a fantasy thing#but no! It is a real thing that people who have access to a labyrinth do!#and we had a great conversation about how shifting physical environments changes thought patterns#and walking as meditative practice#witness for the dead#thara celehar#sass talks therapy

There’s a timeless invitation at the heart of spiritual practice—to discover a deep, unshakable peace within ourselves, one that needs no striving to achieve. In Being Peace, Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us that peace is not something outside to be attained; it’s a natural state within us, accessible in each moment we choose to be fully present. In these quiet moments of awareness, peace isn’t…

Insights Gained on the Kora (A Follow On Post to our last one).
Namaste and greetings friends The previous post on this blog was about the notion of Kora, or the circumambulation of a sacred site or object on foot as a kind of pilgrimage. If you missed it, you can find that post here. While researching for that blog, I came across an old file in a forgotten folder which also touched on Kora as a topic. I’d forgotten all about it as it was really only a…

Simple Ways to Practice Magick Everyday
Say a small prayer or do a short meditation before you get out of bed in the morning.
Write down dreams or visions you had.
Stir your first cup of coffee or tea counterclockwise to banish negativity and bad luck or clockwise to bring positive energy.
Draw daily tarot or oracle cards (you can also use a pendulum) for guidance.
Cleansing yourself and home using sound or smoke.
Ancestor or spirit offerings
Pick out your clothes, shoes, jewelry... ect with intention.
Write a sigil or petition paper and burn it.
Take a ritual shower. You can spice it up with candles, herbs, and crystals, or you can simply step under the water and imagine all the negativity and bad energy washing off you. You can also recite a chant.
Every time you look into the mirror, say an affirmation
Take a walk outside and ground yourself to Mother Earth.
Dance!! Dancing is an excellent way to rise the energy, and it helps with opening the sacral and solar plexus chakra and getting in touch with the inner child.

sweet daily rituals for a calm life 🕊️
+ morning coffee or tea ritual: start your day with a carefully prepared cup of coffee or tea, and if you can, enjoy it slowly somewhere cosy, with a book or soft music in the background.
+ journalling ritual: whether it's morning pages or an end-of-day debrief, consider free-flow journalling to unclog your thoughts, face any problems, and deal with your emotions.
+ skincare ritual: develop a luxurious skincare routine, slowing down to pay real attention and care to your body. consider adding in lymphatic massage, too.
+ mindful cooking: allow cooking to be a meditative process, taking time to choose fresh, seasonal ingredients, explore new recipes, and enjoy the hands-on experience of being in the kitchen. set the table with care, even for simple meals, using beautiful dishes and linens.
+ midday break: decompress and take a quiet break in the middle of the day, perhaps with a short walk through a nearby park or a few minutes of journaling. pause and reflect on how you are feeling and how you want to feel for the rest of the day.
+ afternoon tea or snack: enjoy a piece of dark chocolate, some fresh fruit, delicious cheese, or a small pastry, served on a delicate tray or vintage plate, for a moment of indulgence.
+ evening wind-down: in the evening, unwind with a bath or hot shower, surrounded by soft candlelight and soothing music, followed by changing into comfortable, elegant loungewear or pyjamas. this could be a time for reading, listening to music, spending time with your partner, or enjoying a classic film.
+ home care: pay daily attention to your living space and cultivate a serene and inviting atmosphere by tidying up, clearing away clutter, arranging fresh flowers, and lighting a candle or two.
+ gratitude practice: take a few moments for reflection and gratitude, appreciating the small, beautiful moments that made your day special.

To My Dear Brothers & Sisters in Jesus Christ....
Yoga & Meditation
This topic came to my attention recently once again. Christians prompting meditation and yoga within the church. Personally coming from a paradox background of being raised in the church and then straying into dark waters into different practices, I can honestly say this should not be encouraged in the Body of Christ. I even know of “yoga ministries” or “christian yoga” sprouting up in christian circles. This cannot and shouldn’t be a thing among us.
The practice of yoga is originated from India and rooted in both Hinduism, and Buddhism. To boil it all down to the basic beliefs of yoga and meditation is the awakening and discipline of the mind and body. The word “namaste” is spoke aloud at the end of every yoga session. It’s means “welcome”, referring to the reawakening and re-consciousness of one self. I know this because I’ve tried yoga in the past and learned what “namaste” meant. All other knowledge of these religious practices comes from further personal research and prayer. So at its core, meditation and yoga is to aid one to achieve control over themselves based solely on their own will. This “spiritual” philosophy totally goes against the Christian faith.
We as Christians, have chosen to give up the illusion of control to God because we were never in control of our own lives or anyone else’s in the first place. Only God our Creator is in control. Believing we can live this life on earth without Jesus, without God, leads to a meaningless and empty end. “Everything is meaningless,” says the Teacher, “completely meaningless!” What do people get for all their hard work under the sun?” (Ecclesiastes 1:2-3 NLT)
A reminder, this post is only addressed to my fellow believers in Jesus Christ. Those who’ve accepted Him as their Savior and Redeemer because we’ve accepted the truth of our sinful natures. It is through Christ that we are healed and whole. With all that said, we must be alert and sober to what practices we allow or invite into the Body of Christ. Modern variations of ancient religious practices do not cancel out their true intent. Like for example, renaming the yoga practice; “christian yoga”, and its many poses to better fit this current time or modern ideals. There’s been already so much compromise to our faith throughout the centuries as it is. We must take ownership and responsibility so no other believer may stumble in their walk with Jesus. Modern New Age thinking meditation and yoga has already penetrated our church walls, chose to be a vigilante watchmen on the wall. (Isaiah 62:6-9) In Jesus Name!

Introduction to Shielding
If you haven’t already, check out my lessons on visualisation for the basic knowledge you’ll need to begin practicing shielding.
So what is shielding?
Shielding is a manipulation of energy, used to create a barrier between yourself and unwanted, usually negative or malicious energies. It’s a basic aspect of spellwork that everyone, beginner or experienced, should use to keep themselves safe.
What can I use shielding for?
Some beginner-level uses for shielding are drawing a circle, or casting a spell. A more experienced individual might use shielding in astral travel or spirit work, where there are a lot more malicious energies involved. Personally, I use shielding as often as possible, for instance when I do tarot readings, spells, spirit work, shadow work, and especially cursing. It gives that extra guarantee that you won't flood your personal space with unwanted energies.
Other uses include shielding against real-life dangers, to a certain degree. I often shield when I am walking through town at night for extra protection. But please remember to take other measures too! Call someone, pretend to be on the phone, plan your route, and even carry pepper spray if it's legal where you are.
An easy shielding method:
The easiest way to explain this is to think of your energy as a physical manifestation. Think how power attacks are shown in anime or cartoons - a streak of colour or light, or an element. Make it personable to you: fire signs (Leo/Aries/Sagittarius) might visualise fire, or a red energy or light etc.
Firstly, some people prefer to cleanse before shielding. I don't think its all that necessary but the choice is yours.
Begin by easing yourself into meditation. Get comfortable, and use whichever technique works for you. I have various methods for this in my visualisation lessons if you are struggling.
Attempt to visualise the energies surrounding you in your mind. It might be a swirling colour of light, almost like a cloud of dust. It could be flames, it could be water. Maybe try to see it held within your hand.
Now, attempt to shape this energy around your entire body. You might want to start with a bubble or a cube surrounding you. Feel this shape surrounding and protecting you. Visualise negative and unwanted energies being held back by it.
You can also layer shields, so if you are working with a particularly malicious energy you might want to have multiple shapes surrounding you, all within each other. You can also work with deities or spirits to ask them to shield you too.
Shielding Incantation
When I am shielding, I recite a spell as well as using visualisation techniques.
The shield of protection, I carry it strong, No ill wishes or trouble shall come along, You cannot harm me, or weaken my soul, My light is my weapon, and peace is my goal.
Try it out for yourself and let me know in the comments how it went! Thank you as always for reading. Please message for requests.
